About Waldorf University

Waldorf University is a private, nonprofit institution of higher education nestled in the heart of Iowa. Our intimate and picturesque campus occupies a prominent corner in Forest City, Iowa, and boasts a rich history dating back to 1903, when we first welcomed students eager to learn and grow.

Building on over a century of tradition, Waldorf expanded its reach in 2010 by launching online programs. Our first online programs were successfully introduced 15 years ago, enabling more students to access a Waldorf education regardless of location. Today, we are proud to offer a strong foundation for career success, family engagement, and community impact—anytime and anywhere.

Waldorf University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, ensuring that our diverse range of certificate, associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs meet rigorous academic standards. Our degree programs conform to industry best practices and technology innovation. Engaging coursework with an extensive collection of video-based learning materials is a great example of how Waldorf’s Education Department continues to use technology to be a leader in higher education. Whether on campus or online, our low student-to-faculty ratio fosters close interaction and personalized support from dedicated professors.

Founded by Norwegian immigrants as a Lutheran college, Waldorf University has a long-standing tradition of stewardship and service. Our graduates, whether they become teachers, scientists, doctors, entrepreneurs, or school administrators are united by a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities. Our faculty embody these values as well. They are passionate educators who uphold the faith, values, and traditions that have shaped Waldorf University for over a century.
